Lesli has done this work for nearly six years in this role and serving on the board of directors for the organization prior to becoming the ED.
Lesli has 31+ years of commercial real estate and business lending experience, taught Business Communications at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management, was a corporate leadership and credit trainer, and is certified in conducting behavioral assessments. She created and led a professional women’s networking organization and a formal mentoring program, and she is a mentor for the Tucson Metro Chamber’s Emerging Leaders Council.
Lesli has served on many nonprofit boards over the years, including three years with Earn to Learn, a scholarship program for low-income, first generation college students; the Pima Community College Foundation; Metropolitan Pima Alliance; and CREW Tucson (Commercial Real Estate Women). In addition, her work at Eller included student consulting projects for 13 Tucson nonprofit organizations.
Lesli gives presentations on topics that include leadership, business lending, confidence, leveraging social media, and building networks.
Loan Program Manager
Roberto has more than 13 years of professional experience in the microfinance industry with FINCA International, ACCION, and the Business Development Finance Corporation. His roles have included loan officer, credit analyst, senior loan officer, lead business development officer, market manager, and expansion markets manager. Prior to his work in microfinace, Roberto worked in the news industry for Grupo Reforma as a business co-editor, and for various local government organizations. He is a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States, is bicultural, and speaks fluent Spanish and English.
Roberto holds an undergraduate degree in economics from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) and a master’s degree in public administration & policy from the University of Arizona Eller School of Management. Most recently, he has received industry-focused professional certifications through the Aspen Institute Emerging Leaders in Microfinance (ELM Squared Program), and Harvard Business School Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance.
